GET SIGNED UP TODAY...

As proud supporters of the Pickford Community Library and teachers of their Young Writers Workshop we are excited to announce the fifth year is gearing up for young writers in Michigan.

This group of aspiring young writers is where our Journey to Publication Writing Curriculum was birthed and developed. This group holds charter members who we have watched come up through the ranks of writing to become successful authors.

Straight from Pickford Community Library in Pickford, Michigan...

PICKFORD COMMUNITY LIBRARY YOUNG WRITERS WORKSHOP BEGINS ITS FIFTH YEAR ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6 AT 7 PM

Pickford Community Library’s Young Writers Workshop is ready to kick off another fabulous year. Starting on October 6, 2016, young aspiring authors will begin their journey to become published. New writing enthusiasts will write short stories, poetry, essays, micro-fiction, and flash-fiction; returning enthusiasts can choose to expand their writing abilities by composing longer works (novellas or novelettes) in most genres.

Pickford Community Library
Young Writers Workshop
Writing Enthusiasts: 2015- 2016 Season
The workshop meets every other Thursday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Pickford Community Library. It concludes in mid-May with a “Book-Release SoirĂ©e” for the authors, their parents and friends, and other special guests who support the literary arts for young adults. Young aspiring authors from grade 6 through college who are interested in learning the ins and outs of becoming a published author are welcome—and encouraged—to attend the free workshop sessions. This program is open to all students in the Eastern U.P. and currently has enrollees from Pickford, Rudyard, Cedarville, Kinross, and Sault Ste. Marie.

Janet Beasley of Florida (author and CEO of JLB Creatives Publishing) and Dar Bagby of Brimley (author, illustrator, and Senior Editor at JLBCP) are the co-instructors of the course; Janet participates at each adventure session via Skype. All participants’ works will be published in eBook form free of charge by JLB Creatives Publishing, and no one (author or publisher) collects royalties. At the end of the workshop, each story/eBook will be made available to the public, free of charge, through SmashWords and the “Book Shoppes” at JLBCreatives.com. The works will also be available for digital checkout via Overdrive at most U.P. public libraries.

The Young Writers Workshop was founded by Pickford Community Library Manager Ann Marie Smith in 2012 and is free and open to the public. If you would like to enroll, please contact Ann Marie at the library before October 6 at 906-647-1288 or at amsmith@uproc.lib.mi.us The Pickford Community Library is located at 230 East Main Street in downtown Pickford. We look forward to hearing from you!

Featured Children's Author Amy Sellers

Children's authors are some of the most creative people on the planet! JLB Creatives Publishing is honored to be a publishing company who specializes in children's books. In steering the company to cater to such authors, we are honored to have had Amy Sellers make a submission for her Miss Amy's Rhyme Time Collection.

What makes Amy different from other children's authors? She is not only the author, but also the artist. Her imagination was "handed" down to her son, Asa, who took the liberty to put all of her rhymes to music.

Miss Amy's Rhyme Time Collection is a sing-along experience. With 4 titles: "Snorts, Paws, Tails, and Claws," "Cats and Mice Twice as Nice," "Whooo's Coming to Dinner," and "Angels Can Do Loop-Dee-Loops" there is something for kids of all kinds! From peas to pizza, and spiders to celestial beings and beyond, Amy has captured her audience's eye with her brightly colored paintings that boast lyrics that are just as colorful and whimsical.

To discover more about children's author Amy Sellers and her Rhyme Time Collection we invite you to visit www.JLBCreatives.com and look for Amy Sellers's author page.

If you're a children's author looking to make a submission to a publishing company who specializes in children's books, we invite you to take a look at our submission guidelines on our website www.JLBCreatives.com

BeaslePunk and Amy Sellers Art Gallery Combine Talents...

Welcome! So glad you stopped by the blog today. We've got some awesome news for you.

Artist/Children's Author Amy Sellers
JLB Creatives' BeaslePunk Art Division is joining forces for the upcoming weekend with Artist Amy Sellers (Author of Miss Amy's Rhyme Time Children's Books/published by JLB Creatives Publishing).

The Mount Dora, Florida Arts and Craft Fair is happening this coming weekend, and Amy has invited BeaslePunk artists, Don and Janet Beasley, to combine their artful talent with her and her gallery for the event!

If you come to Mount Dora, Florida for the event on February 6-7, 2016 be sure to stop by Amy Sellers Art Gallery on Donnelly Street (located in the Renaissance Building) to feast your eyes upon some of the most imaginative and talented art pieces the creative world has to offer. With Amy's diversified talent in the painting realm you'll want to be sure and browse through Amy Sellers Art Gallery where we're certain you'll find a piece of art that suits your taste. Both originals and canvas reproductions are available. Say "hi" to Amy herself as she will be on hand to sign autographs on every piece of art sold. Amy's credentials are impressive, including presenting Charlie Daniels with an original painting she did specifically for him for a previous Mount Dora event.

Artist/YA Fantasy Author Janet Beasley
In addition to browsing inside Amy's gallery you'll want to make a stop just outside the doors and say hello to BeaslePunk artist, Janet Beasley. Janet will be dressed in costume (steampunk) as her newest character Lady Vixen Beasle, meeting and greeting BeaslePunk fans, and selling her's and her husband's (Sir Bwana Beasle) unique steampunk artistry of cosplay props. BeaslePunk recently received the "People's Choice Award" from the Orlando Museum of Art's 1st Thursday event "Dreams of Steam" on January 7, 2016. In addition to their award BeaslePunk's artwork is going to be featured in the Full Sail student film production of "Sun Blade," releasing 2016, and a large selection of art is under creation in preparation for MegaCon 2016 taking place at the Orlando Convention Center May 26-29, 2016.

For more information on these artists we invite you to visit www.JLBCreatives.com where you'll find Amy Sellers listed in the Authors tab, and you'll find a BeaslePunk tab that will take you directly to their site.

Hope to see you in Mount Dora! When you stop by Amy's Art Gallery tell them JLB Creatives sent you. Here's wishing you a stellar day!

What a Fantastic Show!

We had such a great time at the Steampunk Industrial Show this weekend. Oswald the automaton made lots of new friends, Sir Bwana Beasle had the opportunity to meet n' greet tons of established AND new fans of BeaslePunk's artwork.

We want to thank Renninger's for hosting such a splendid event, and are already looking forward to the next one! And we want to thank our wonderful fans for taking the time to stop by and join the fun at the BeaslePunk Armory.

Our authors' books were well received, and Codger Works Jewelry along with Fantasy Faces made a delightful splash of a display.

Photos from the event will be up on Beaslepunk.com in the future.

Our next show is coming up April 9, 2016. Leesburg ComiCon will be underway. Look for JLB Creatives Publishing and BeaslePunk on the ground floor of the Leesburg Public Library located in Leesburg, Florida.

Until next time...stay casual, live life to the fullest, and have a piece of chocolate for us!

2016 Kicks Off In Style for JLB Creatives - January 7th, 2016 BeaslePunk at OMA!

Hello faithful fans! Happy New Year! JLB Creatives is wishing for all of our super fans, great things to come to you throughout 2016.

To say that we're starting off 2016 in style is an understatement! With the new year less than a week old, we're proud to announce that our BeaslePunk artists, Don and Janet (JLBCP CEO) Beasley have been invited to display a selection of their cosplay props at the Orlando Art Museum's "Dreams of Steam" exhibition taking place Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Every first Thursday the Orlando Museum of Art kicks off a different themed exhibition featuring local artists and talent. For more information visit www.OMArt.org

Don and Janet submitted and had accepted for display during the event, "Oswald" the "living" automaton, and their two art pieces "Copper Dragon" and "Black Bart."

Don will be appearing as Sir Bwana Beasle (sporting his first place costume), carrying "Raging Rhino," and will be on hand to meet n' greet with fellow art enthusiasts. Janet will be playing a big part in making Oswald come to life so you may not always "see" her out front.

During 2015 the BeaslePunk division of JLB Creatives made quite the splash. Their first appearance came in January at Renninger's Steampunk and Industrial show. They also displayed and sold their unique artwork at Leesburg Comicon, MegaCon Fandays - Orlando, FL, and the October Steampunk and Industrial show to name a few.

The following video was shot and edited by ThinkBolt on Youtube. You'll discover the BeaslePunk display starting at minute 1:29. And we invite you to view the entire video as there is so much to see!

We hope to see you at the Orlando Museum of Art, January 7th, 2016 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Admission charge required for entry for non OMA members.
