Mark Wayne Adams has illustrated over thirty children’s books in six years winning numerous children’s book awards. His work experience includes Walt Disney World Company, SeaWorld Orlando, Art Director for GSI Architectural Sign Company, and store manager for Sprint Print, Inc. Mark is now CEO of Mark Wayne Adams, Inc. and serves as President Elect for the Florida Authors & Publishers Association.

During Mark’s dynamic session: Children’s Book Design: Fun & Function learn about the fun and practical uses of Picture, Juvenile Fiction, Middle Readers, and YA books.

• Construction: Print requirements, terminology, hardbound vs. paperback, covers, jackets, and more.
• Supplemental Materials: Book activities, coloring pages, teacher resources, and more.
• Merchandising: Creating products from the illustrations: CafePress, print and digital versions of books, translation, etc.

About Amy Sellers

Amy has been inspired to create art her entire life. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. In 2002 Amy became interested in creating children's books. She was inspired to help her son and many other children diagnosed with autism. In October 2011 she opened her first retail art gallery, Amy Sellers Art Gallery, in Mount Dora, Florida.

She can still be found in her gallery creating realistic, impressionistic, or whimsical art for all to see. The Amy Sellers Art Gallery is located in The Renaissance Building at 411 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, Florida.

On Wednesdays we're posting a photo taken by our CEO, author Janet Beasley to help inspire authors, painters, musicians, and other awesome artists. We've titled the new feature, "Spark Your Creativity." How did we come up with this? Read on...

When Janet isn't hard at work in the literary world, you'll find her and her husband kayaking the crystal clear, spring fed rivers of Florida. Janet's second passion next to writing is photographing nature as they glide through the serene settings these rivers have to offer. She and her husband also enjoy traveling the US, so you'll also be seeing some of Janet's

photos taken from hikes and journeys she and her husband have done nationwide. She has used her photos time and again for her own inspiration when it comes to many of her stories, and decided she would like to share the same inspiration with the literary and arts world.

And not to worry if you're not inspired this week, come back each Wednesday to catch a glimpse of what could "spark" your next amazing piece of work. Meet FAPA Fall Conference Presenter Jennifer Swanson

Excitement is building as the Florida Authors and Publishers Association Fall Conference is approaching. If you've not been introduced to the association and/or the conference we invite you to visit Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA)  to have a look around. Today we are featuring the literary expert, Jennifer Swanson, who will be presenting at this year's conference taking place in Pompano Beach, Florida Aug 8 - 9.

Jennifer Swanson was born in Illinois but moved to Florida in 1996, and has been living in Jacksonville ever since. She is an award winning author of over 20 nonfiction and fiction books for children. Her books in the “How Things Work” series by The Child’s World were named to the 2012 Booklist’s Top 10 Books for Youth: Series Nonfiction. She has received awards from the Pennsylvania TriState Young Adult Review Committee, The Moms Choice Awards, and The Dove Foundation.

“My goal with my all of my books is to encourage a child’s imagination to soar. Whether it’s by showing the science of tiny microbes living in your teeth or taking on them on adventures with two intrepid pet detectives, I want children to know that reading is fun! Stimulating the imagination of a child is a great way to get a reader for life.”

Jennifer has a B.S. in Chemistry from the U.S. Naval Academy and her M.S. Ed. (K-8) science from Walden University.
