Writing Prompt Thursday: It's in the details

This writing prompt is designed to tell the story in the details without mentioning the actual event. Focusing on the details and letting the reader build the event in their mind can be a more immersive reading experience. So let's give it a try with this one!

Write a scene that takes place right after a tragedy. Don't mention the tragedy.

Write this scene with a minimum of 350 words in any genre. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

JLB Creatives Publishing is open for manuscript submissions. For guidelines and how to submit visit our site at

WEDNESDAY FEATURE "Spark Your Creativity"

#Frog #Frogs #Reptile #Pond
This week's photo takes us to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Michigan's U.P.
Janet has titled this photo, "Keep Your Head Above Water"

Happy Creating!

On Wednesdays we're posting a photo taken by our CEO, author Janet Beasley to help inspire authors, painters, musicians, and other awesome artists. We've titled the new feature, "Spark Your Creativity." How did we come up with this? Read on...

When Janet isn't hard at work in the literary world, you'll find her and her husband kayaking the crystal clear, spring fed rivers of Florida. Janet's second passion next to writing is photographing nature as they glide through the serene settings these rivers have to offer. She and her husband also enjoy traveling the US, so you'll also be seeing some of Janet's
photos taken from hikes and journeys she and her husband have done nationwide. She has used her photos time and again for her own inspiration when it comes to many of her stories, and decided she would like to share the same inspiration with the literary and arts world.

And not to worry if you're not inspired this week, come back each Wednesday to catch a glimpse of what could "spark" your next amazing piece of work. And if you don't want to wait until next Wednesday, we'd like to invite you to visit our JLB Creatives Photo Gallery on Flickr where the photos are always free to download and use as book covers, business cards, wallpaper, etc. All we ask is that you give credit where credit is due - perhaps by something as simple as adding a credit link to the JLB Creatives/Janet Beasley Flickr site in your book or on your presentation.

We hope you enjoy our new Wednesday feature, "Spark Your Creativity." And we want to let you know, if a photo inspires you to write a story that you would like to have considered for publication by JLB Creatives Publishing, be sure to visit our website at where you'll find our company's history, be introduced to the publishing team, discover our Submission Guidelines, and may submit your work for consideration.

FAPA Fall Conference...a HUGE Success for all!

Fall Conference 2014...well worth the effort!

Hello fans and followers. Hope you had a great weekend. Elise and Janet surely did - they traveled to Pompano Beach with their families to speak at the Florida Authors and Publishers Association's Fall Conference. While Janet and Elise were hard at work and networking during the conference, Janet's husband and Elise's son enjoyed a mini summer vacation!

Janet (photo below: Janet / left) spoke on Book Trailer Basics. It was an interactive class that lead attendees into "helping" Janet create a short video, using the techniques she had taught them, right in front of their eyes.

When Janet was done, Elise (photo on left, Elise / right) was up to share her vast knowledge of Social Media Platforms. How do they say that? Oh yeah...and the crowd went wild!
We have to admit, JLB Creatives Publishing is proud to have Janet as their CEO, and Elise as their Media Director. With opportunities such as these, JLBCP is lucky to be doing what they love, helping aspiring authors not only throughout the publishing process, but beyond.

Below are a few pictures of the event - and the fun we had along with the teaching. We encourage you to take a look at FAPA and all it has to offer. We invite you to join to reap the benefits of being a member of such a dynamic bunch of literary enthusiasts. For more FAPA information please CLICK HERE

The rooms were beautiful and the staff courteous, attentive, and professional.

With the sound of the ocean waves, and the feel of the sand between your toes,
there's no place like it!
