Life is a picnic - dig in!

Hello everyone! So great to see you here.
Regular blog posts are still appearing on Mondays - but with a little bit of a twist.

Due to the enormous success we have had with Maycly - I need to get busy on the next 5 novels...you read right...5 more novels! For this reason, every Monday we're going to head to the archives and the postings will be some of the coolest and most helpful blog posts I made throughout 2011 and early 2012. This will allow me the much time needed to let my creativity run wild and write, and write, and write. ;-)

Not to worry, I'm not abandoning my fans - I'll still be at your fingertips through comments here on the blog, email, Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, and other social media.

So, without any further ado - welcome to the past!

WEEK 6 Video
Action, Fairytale Romance, or Discovering New Lands & Life
What's your fav?

WEEK 6 TOPIC POST:
When it comes to epic fantasy, I'm guessing most of you loyal fans would "WINK", "MMMMWWWAAAHH!," AND "GASP" because most epic fantasy novels, like "Maycly" where Good vs. Evil in a good old fashioned way, contain a bit of all three.

I definitely would "WINK" this week because I enjoy action a whole big bunch. It makes for fun fast paced stories that can keep you on the edge of your seat. When it came time to create action for my novel "Maycly" I found it was a fun task trying to make it exciting using only the resources I allowed on Maycly. For instance, there are no electric or gas machines (cars, planes, etc.) so I had to bring the action about in the chase scene using horses and other creatures unique unto Maycly.

And being the sappy chick that I am I would have to include "The Kissing Sound...MMMWWWAAHH!" I couldn't resist the temptation to add in some fairytale romance. The light-hearted romances in the novel bring the reader different ages to relate to. For example there's a couple in their early 20's, one in their 40's, as well as a few couples who have reached the ripe old age of 317 years old! And by that...you should know the romance isn't always about human relationships.

But, if I truly had to pick just one, I'd have to "GASP"...becuase my absolute fav would fall under Discovering New Lands & Life. Being a highly creative individual, it is really fun for me to face the challenge of world development for my novels. Not only do I get to "create" the terrain, but also those who dwell thereon, their dwellings, the transportation, the plant life, the animals, the birds, the fish...you see where I'm going with this.

If you are a highly creative individual, but haven't ever really given any thought to writing a novel, that's OK. But let me give you a helpful hint...from one creative nut to another: Whatever comes to you in a creative way, jot it down in a small notebook that you keep with you. Why? Because if the day ever does come that you would like to dive head first into the arena of fantasy or sci-fi novel writing - you'll have a great head start!

Even if you never want to become a novelist, with having those creative ideas on paper it's fun to go back and re-read your moments-of-genius throughout your life - kind of like a creativity journal.

Your creativity journal is also a wonderful resource to have on hand for those of you interested in the theatrical realm. Remember, special effects technicians can be some of your best friends when it comes to developing a realistic presentation on the stage or film.

I like to put it this way..."I'm just the inspiration behind the persperation!" In other words...I think so far out of the box, I can't even find the box anymore! But - I'm not a "nuts and bolts" type person who can draft and engineer things. So please don't feel left out if you don't think your creative...we creative geniuses need genius people like you to bring our wacky ideas to life! A prime example of this would be me and my husband...me=creative genius, my husband=engineering guru chocked full of physics and design knowledge. ;-)

WEEK 6
Pic N' Thought

We often say, "spare me the details."
Aren't you glad Mother Nature
didn't listen to any of us on that one?

LINK OF THE WEEK:
On Maycly there is one entire section of land devoted to growing crops. From fruits and berries to vegetables and grains. There's also a gristmill to grind the grains into flour.

One of the things I enjoyed most as a kid was going to the local gristmill and watching the huge waterwheel turn without stopping. The sound of the water dropping in and out of each small trough was mesmerising to me. I'd stand as close as I could, throwing my imagination into high gear and become a water fairy who could ride the big gristmill wheel. "Weeeeee!"

Then we'd go inside the mill, and there'd be the huge "gear-like" mechanism spinning with each notch in all of the ginormous wheels perfeclty meshing together with every turn. This part was usually pretty intimidating to me as a kid, so I'd pretend that the creepy "gear room" was an evil place where monsters hid and made the giant wooden wheels spin by blowing their fiery breath on hot coals that were hidden somewhere deep within. Then I'd pretend that as the fairy, I would have to leave the water and fly in secret to warn our ruler that evil was crafting a mennacing machine to destroy the land! "YIKES!"

Well, needless to say, I've added on a few years to my life since those thoughts raced through my head. Now when I visit a gristmill I find it very fascinating as to how it operates. I was so amazed to find out that the scary "gear room" wasn't scary at all. It was actually a much needed part in turning the grains into flours.

My favorite gristmill would have to be from my homeland. If you're from there, you already know which one I mean. Clifton Mill was such a huge 'impact-making' part of my childhood, I wanted to share it with you this week. You can simply click on my photo or the text below it and you'll go "back in time" and discover the nostalgia of one of my favorite childhood memories.

I by know means endorse Clifton Mill, nor do I get paid 'per click' or any other way if you visit the site. It's just simply a fun place I wanted to share with you, my trusty blog followers.

WEEK 6 SUMMARY:
This week has been fun! From being creative to writing romance action, and discovery scenes, to stepping back in time and visiting a grist mill. There's always something fun to do if you just take the time to do a little research before you set out on an adventure...sometimes the best things are found right in your own home town!

The Comment Game is a good one this week - and I need your help to find out what my readers want most. Here's the recap: Type the word "WINK" if you love Action. Type the word "MMMWWWAAAHHH!" if fairytale romance is your thing. And thirdly, type the word "GASP" if you are an explorer and love to discover new lands and what all they have to offer. Again, you can type them all or make up your own...just be sure and fill me in!

To share the JLB Creatives Blog with your friends and family I've made it even easier...you can scroll back up to the top of the post and look for the title: "Be Kind and Share" on the right of the page. Pick one or more and click to deliver the JLB Creative news to your own fan base!
