Author Splash with Horror Writing Genius the Brilliant Barbara Watkins

Welcome fans of JLB Creatives!
We're so glad you've chosen our blog as a regular stop.

This week we will be expanding on last week's post, The Dynamic Duo of Horror.
We're featuring Author Barbara Watkins!

You'll get to know Barbara on a more personal level, discover all of her novels, and so much more!

It is my pleasure to present to you:
Paranormal/Suspense Thriller Author

Barbara Watkins

Barbara Watkins resides in Missouri with her husband of thirty-five years, and her faithful, loving, box-weiler, Hooch. She has three children, and ten grandchildren.

At an early age, she experienced what she referred to as – supernatural phenomenon, As a teenager she kept a diary in which she documented several of her disturbing nightmares, in which she would ultimately incorporate into several of her writings.

In her writings, she loves to evoke a false sense of security and expectations, as she leads her reader into a world of the unknown. Her articles on various subjects, short stories, and poetry, have appeared in The Heartland Writers Guild, 2008 New York Skyline Review, and several on-line publications.

Cold Coffee Magazine accepted her article, A Testament To Poets, for their second issue released in print and is available online at Cold Coffee Magazine. She has done book reviews for Atlantic Publishing, and is currently a full time book reviewer for Allbooks Review.

In 2010, Watkins collaborated with New Zealand screenwriters, Sean O’ Conner and Chantal Rayner-Burt on a screenplay for a short movie entitled, BlindSide in which her name appears in the films end credits for voice-over monologue. BlindSide has been accepted into the Cannes short film corner, as part of the 65th Festival de Cannes, and the 7th Cyprus International Film Festival 2012.

Barbara Watkins is a member of The Thriller Writers Association, and The National Writers Association. Her charitable contributions include supporting the Partner in Hope program through the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As a youngster, Barbara experienced supernatural phenomenon and documented some of her experiences in a journal. As she grew into adulthood, the experiences progressed. As therapy, she began to write short stories dramatizing some of the strange occurrences that she endured – thus her career in writing Paranormal/Thrillers evolved.

She has been interviewed on several BlogTalk Radio shows such as, ‘The Bradshaw Chronicles’ ‘Literary Scribes’ ‘Lawrence J. King’ and ‘The Jeff Miller Show’. She has appeared on local radio and has had book signings at such locations as, ‘The Howard County Library’ in Nashville, Arkansas, ‘Hastings’ in Little Rock, Arkansas,’ ‘The Sikeston Missouri Depot,’ and ‘TBIB’ in Blytheville, Arkansas. In 2010, she spoke to the students in the creative writing class at her local High School and discussed the art of storytelling. She and her books have been featured several times in ‘The Nashville Leader’ and ‘The Sikeston Missouri Democrat’.

Monologue Voice Over Credits: In 2011, Barbara collaborated on a screenplay entitled ‘BlindSide’ with New Zealand Director/Producer, Dimi Nakov (Independent short film.) I am pleased to announce that BLINDSIDE has been Officially selected for Cannes Short Film Corner as Part of 65th Cannes Film Festival 2012, and Official Selection for the 7th Cyprus International Film Festival in Greece in October 2012.

Literary Membership Groups: ‘The Thriller Writers Association’ ‘The National Writers Association’ ‘The Heartland Writers Guild,’ and is listed in ‘The Missouri Authors Directory’ (Missouri Center for the Book)

Barbara is available for media appearances, speaking engagements, and book signings.
