It's New - It's Now - It's Wow! It's Our New Monday Feature We Like to Call "Excerpt Extravaganza!"

Welcome to the JLB Creatives Blog, where an eclectic team of creative geniuses share their fantastical imaginations.

On Mondays we are having an Excerpt Extravaganza, featuring an excerpt from one of our creative authors. And what makes this feature so fun is that we publish a wide range of genres. You'll never know what to expect for the excerpt.

Enjoy!

Today's excerpt is from author Jean E. Lane's Lill and Mewe Series Book 1 The Secrets of Mars.

Lill thought she’d better sleep now. It is going to be a busy sol tomorrow, and I have much to learn. She took one last look through her new telescope at her two moons, Phobos and Deimos. She could see their cratered and irregular shapes clearly as they shined brightly in the dark night sky. Lill lives in a subterranean city called The Friendly City, located just west of the Noctis Labyrinthus, or Valley of the Night, and east of the Tharsis volcano region in one of the many enormous caverns. All the people have been living underground for a thousand years or so, ever since the planet’s surface grew harshly uninhabitable. No one really knows the exact date this happened because all information and technical data of the surface were destroyed by meteor showers so long ago. However, they do know their city is located beneath the equatorial area of the planet at 5 degrees latitude and 112 degrees longitude.

Submissions Are Open for Specific Genres!

Hello fans of the literary world! Welcome to the JLB Creatives Publishing blog. Today we've got something special for aspiring authors seeking a publisher.

Let's face it, readers need authors, and authors need readers. It's one of the best combinations on the planet! Fact: readers want to read sweet, professional works, and serious authors don't want to put out sour, unprofessional material. That's where having a publisher comes in.

We wanted to let worthy authors out there know that submissions are now open through October 31, 2015 for consideration of specific genres. We continually accept submissions, however at this time manuscripts falling under the specified following genres will have top priority for consideration of publication.

Historical Fiction (era, event, or person)
American Westerns (cowboys, railroad, pioneers)
Clean Romance (fantasy, teen, paranormal)
Mystery (Steampunk, crime, drama, thriller.)
Science Fiction (aliens, outer space, other world)

It takes hard work, passion, and severe dedication to the craft of writing to be accepted by a true publisher. JLB Creatives Publishing makes certain the stories they select for publication will present readers with quality stories that are professionally edited (in-house) and will also have book covers and interiors that have been designed professionally (in-house), both performed while working one-on-one with each author. These are only two of the main features in which JLB Creatives Publishing takes pride. Our one-on-one customer service/communication throughout the entire publication process (before, during, and after) with our team of industry professionals, and the fact that we promote our selected authors on our main social media outlets set us apart. If selected for publication you will have both an eBook and a print book (in most cases), and both will be made available globally.

You'll find we are a true, credible publisher who sincerely cares about the authors we select for publication.

If you have a completed manuscript we invite you to visit our website at www.JLBCreatives.com and take a look at our Submission Guidelines page first. If after reading our guidelines you feel that you and your story are a good fit for our publishing company, move on over to the Submission Form page and follow the instructions.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Form

will be up for consideration first.

We DO NOT accept or consider manuscripts that are obscene or slanderous.

We look forward to seeing your submissions.

Find out what Martians think about Earthlings in Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars!

About book one of the Lill and Mewe series Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars
When Lill, a young Martian girl, receives a telescope for her birthday and locates planet Earth, she and her water cat, Mewe, "borrow" a new spacecraft called the Whisper 5 and travel to Earth, where they meet a girl named Lily. Back on Mars, Lill looks for her brother Merak, who, also on a mission, has lost contact when his warp drive safety failed and may have left the galaxy. Lill later learns Merak was rescued, but by whom?

As Lill watches Mewe swim race at Frogscry River, where she competes with the other water cats, Lill discovers a glowing orb in the wall of a cave. The orb holds the thoughts of Martians who have died hundreds of years ago, along with ancient wisdom. What will she learn from the orb? Will she find Merak? What are the secrets of the history of Mars?

Follow the exciting adventures of Lill and Mewe as they seek answers in a world of advanced computers, androids, and artificial intelligence.

What readers are saying about Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars
Five Stars!
Charming in its simplicity, yet surprisingly complex. There is a lot going on with this fun little story. The author has some big ideas and writes for her target audience. The secrets of Mars are revealed with a civilization hidden beneath the surface of the red planet. The focus of the story is on Lill, her younger brother and their insatiable curiosity. The story ends piquing my curiosity and leaves me ready for the sequel. Like a good series should, this first book comes to a satisfying end, but leaves the reader with a few questions. This story is perfect for middle grade and some young readers, especially if they are interested in fun and science!

Five Stars!
I like to preview what my children will be reading. The imagination and scientific facts that filled this book made it very enjoyable reading. I found myself becoming intrigued with the story and ended up reading the entire book Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars. I feel children will find it adventuresome and educational with the facts of Mars and space. I find this author's work truly enjoyable reading for all ages.

About the author Jean E. Lane
Jean E.Lane grew up in the once active steel town of Youngstown, Ohio. Since then, she has moved to the
Orlando, Florida area and considers this her home. Shortly afterward, she met and later married her husband Ken; now they have a home just northwest of Orlando.

She studied Journalism at Writers Institute and Finance at Penn State. Most of her life included working in Accounting and Purchasing. Jean had poems published in Seacoast Life Magazine, Wide Open Magazine, and was a poetic contributor to The Copy Desk Flash, a school newspaper. Later she signed a contract with Creative Directions as a free-lance writer of verse for greeting cards.

It was her love of science and science fiction that prompted her to write her first children’s novel, “Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars”, the first of her series. Her inspiration came with the birth of her niece Lily and shortly afterward a nephew, Andrew. As with all children, she wanted them to enjoy reading…and there’s nothing like a good adventure.

Cover Reveal: Lill and Mewe book 3 Mission to Zanda

JLB Craetives Publishing is proud to announce book three in the Lill and Mewe series coming soon!

About Lill and Mewe: Mission to Zanda
Book three of the Lill and Mewe series

Children of all ages will enjoy the sci-fi adventure Lill and Mewe: Mission to Zanda.

The Martians have officially entered into their age of space exploration. MARSA and the MMSC have formulated a plan for space travel well beyond the Milky Way Galaxy. After testing a theory using a probe, they realized they have to first travel backwards to find a specific wormhole. This would prove to be the shortcut to bridge part of the 2.5 million light years to reach planet Zanda in the Andromeda Galaxy. But where in the galaxy did they find this ‘super’ wormhole? What big surprise does MARSA have for the mission crew?

Lill and Mewe trek to Turtle Run Creek to see the rare turtle hatchlings that happen every 40 years. It appears the turtles communicate with each other very well. Like any little community, the turtles each have their own task to perform. When Mewe gets too close to some young turtles she is smacked and hissed at by a turtle that protects them. Mewe hissed back but understood they protect their young turtles at all costs. Do the turtles have any enemies? Is it possible for turtles and cats to become friends?

Merak stays behind on this mission, but manages to create his own imaginary creatures at the Amusphere. During one of his holographic battles with otherworldly aliens, the program malfunctions and he is left to fend for himself. What happens?

The MMSC mission crew set off on their mission to Zanda. It is the first time the Martians are invited to join the United Alliance of Planets conference on that faraway planet. This takes place when the five blue moons align. It takes almost two weeks to reach their destination. Danger lurks along the way. Who or what do they encounter? What is a Pree? Is there trouble brewing in the universe?

Find out the answers to these questions and learn how Earth is connected to all of this when you arrive on planet Zanda.
