Get inspired by one woman's story of learning how to be a survivor.

About A life Renewed
In 1995 twelve-year-old Lisa was diagnosed with AML leukemia. Two years later, after many chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant, Lisa returned to “normal” life. She had maintained a positive attitude throughout the treatment process, but with each new chronic illness Lisa became more and more bitter and resentful.

In 2003 Lisa finally realized this and began a healing process. She relived her past experiences by keeping a journal and talking to God about what was really going on at the time, sharing her honest thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. In doing so Lisa found freedom from the bitterness, anger, and doubt which had gradually set in and taken over her life, faith, and relationships.

The ten years she recounts in her book are marked by sicknesses and struggles, but ultimately Lisa’s story is one of healing, which gives hope to those of us who are still suffering.

Five Star Review from Readers' Favorite!
Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite

A Life Renewed by Lisa Andrews is an inspiring story of Lisa's recovery from AML leukemia. The book takes you on a physical and emotional journey of a person who rises up from the depths of despair and goes on a path of healing - mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. She starts the book from the diagnosis to the treatment period and how it affected her mentally. Lisa ends up being bitter and resentful. By keeping a journal to talk to God, she overcomes the negative feelings and ends up embarking on a positive path. The book gives hope to those who are suffering and looking for redemption.

It is an emotionally moving story that will touch your heart. The author has chronicled her experiences in a manner for the reader to comprehend them easily. The story of Lisa and her recovery from cancer will be inspiring to many readers who are suffering from illnesses and who are emotionally and mentally angry and bitter. The transformation journey is motivating to read. She tells readers to have faith in God during their adverse moments and to keep their relationship with God going during their worst times.

Though the book speaks of anguish and pain on both the mental and physical plane, it ends on a positive note. Lisa links cancer to sinning, which would make us think twice now when we behave badly. The ten years of her life covered in the book is inspiring and motivating for any reader.

About Lisa Andrews
Lisa holds a BM in Vocal Music Education and an MA in Ethnomusicology. She enjoys learning about other cultures. She and her husband Charles enjoy cooking, listening to music, writing music, and spending time with friends and family. They hope to author additional books in the near future.

Thrusday Prompt: Out of body

This week we're going to give the imagination a good workout. We're challenging you to write about an out of body experience. Something happened, maybe an accident, a psychic power awakens, or other cause for this phenomenon but, suddenly you find yourself walking around in spirit form outside your body.

What would you do? Where would you go? Who would you see? Would you be mischievous, helpful, or just observe. Explore this idea in a flash fiction of at least 500 words.

The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen a fantasy novel by Amy I. Long

The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen written by author Amy I. Long is being released to readers and bookstores today from JLB Creatives Publishing.  In 2013 The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen won the National Indie Excellence Award.

Amy was inspired by history to create this fantasy/romance. Boadicea (Boudica or Boudicca) was a queen of a Celtic tribe. She led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. "I especially like strong, outspoken women of earlier days but little known in modern times. Perhaps that is what sparked my enthusiasm to write about my own queen.”

About The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen
Voda of Monarch never once believed she would end up as a queen. Now she must choose a husband, but she cannot because her heart belongs to Keldrick, the king of the faraway land, Ameri. A marriage between these two would be unsuitable, almost impossible.

Voda is thrown into a dangerous situation and is rescued by her heart’s desire. But their forbidden passion for each other must be denied. Keldrick promises only one night of passion, then he separates himself from temptation. Voda, being a warrior, faces many battles that only bring her closer to her beloved Keldrick.

How dangerous could a marriage between these two desperate souls be? The two struggle through cruelties and war only to discover that, in the end, love conquers all in this untold legend.

Five Star Reviews for The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen
“I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a powerful woman who can lead an army to conquest, but also has a heart for a bit of romance on the side. It's a good read.”

“I enjoyed this romance novel with its descriptive scenes woven with history. The lead character is a strong, outspoken female who lives up to the position she is thrown into. This is a very promising start for this first time published author and I look forward to reading her future endeavors.”

About Amy I. Long
Amy I. Long was raised in Sanford, Florida. She is working toward a bachelor's degree in molecular biology and hopes to apply that knowledge to the field of disease control. She loves watching sci-fi movies, reading historic romance novels, and studying history, medical botany, and astronomy.

Thursday Prompt: Art Interpretation

Paintings and sculptures like books tell a story. The wonderful thing about art is that the stories a work tells is up to the person viewing it. One person may see a painting very differently from another. That's one of the reasons art can be so inspirational for writers. We can take one image and create thousands of stories from it.

This week that's exactly what we're going to do.... well one story, not thousands. :) There are three paintings below choose one and study it for a while. Take a paragraph or two of notes about the people or things in the work. How does it make you feel? What do you think the person or people are feeling or thinking? After your study session take a five-minute break then come back and look at your chosen painting and notes.

Now you're ready to tell the tale that you see envisioned in oils, watercolor, charcoal, or clay.

Artist: Bartolomé González y Serrano

Artist: Frida Kahlo

Take a journey with us, a Journey to Publication

Journey to Publication™ Teaches More than Just How to Write

JLB Creatives Publishing is proud to announce the release of a new curriculum. This curriculum is unlike any other on the market today. It is a journey of not only understanding how to write but also how to go through the steps to publishing a literary work. It leads participants on a career path.

What sets the Journey to Publication™ Writing Curriculum Apart?
Our curriculum, which is highly interactive and encompasses more than basic writing skills, has been written by top literary professionals from JLB Creatives Publishing. Their combined total experience in the industry exceeds 100 years. In addition to developing writing skills, such as character development, exposition, dialogue, and more, both novice and advanced participating writing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to be exposed to, but not limited to:

Interactive adventures - Creating author bios - Several popular genres - Building author platforms - Marketing/Promotion - Dealing with rejection - Writing reviews - Book signing events - Speaking engagements – The history of printing - The publishing industry - Manuscript submissions - Understanding contracts - Query and cover letters - No-No's in literature - Literary terminology - Creating book trailers - Illustration purposes - Sufficient self-editing - Book cover design - Formatting - And more!

As you can see this is a truly complete course of study for anyone interested in writing or authorship. Recommended ages are 12 through adult. Groups, businesses, homeschoolers, and individuals will be able to learn and improve skills needed to write better and be successful. We are so sure participants will thrive through the program, we don’t call them students—we call them enthusiasts.

Don’t Take Our Word for It…

"I was a freshman in high school when I began writing with the group three years ago. I participated in the
Enthusiasts of the Pickford Comunity Library JTP program
Pickford Community Library's workshop. I joined because I had always found a joy in writing since I was small: it gives me a way to use the words I've learned and love in combination with my imagination. It helped me harness my words into fluent patterns and let me bring out my voice in writing so that my works, in the group or for English class, became more interesting to read and I got better grades. If I have the chance to, I’ll always join this group or one like it; the experience is a load of fun and it helps me take another step forward in achieving a personal goal I have."
Amy: HS Junior / Enthusiast / Young Writers Workshop / Michigan

"This was my first year participating. I joined the group during my sophomore year of high school. I joined the group in hopes of refining my writing and revising skills, as well as gaining knowledge of how publication works. I was happy to find lessons that were intriguing and informative, and I learned a plethora of information every single session. While writer's workshop hasn't had a major impact on my school studies, it has greatly improved my personal life. It has motivated me to work extremely hard on what I am most passionate about and has offered me an incredible opportunity that I am so grateful for. In addition, sitting in a room with other writers and talking about a craft we all understand and love is so much more wholesome as opposed to going it alone on the front of writing. It has shed light on how what I once considered a lovable hobby can be a career, and it has shown me that I am not alone in the struggles all writers face. I most definitely want to join the group again next year and would love to find more opportunities similar to it. Writing, for me, is a lifestyle. Some have sports, some have stage props, and some have computers—I have a pencil and a sheet of paper. With it, and with the opportunities this group has given me, I can create universes that previously never existed."
- Honnah: High School Sophomore / Enthusiast / Young Writers Workshop / Michigan

One more thing….
What truly sets this program apart and shows how invested JLB Creatives is to the success of enthusiasts, is the amazing opportunity they offer—one that is only available to Journey to Publication™ students. In the Novice program, the instructors (we call them Overseers) will choose two enthusiasts’ works (micro- or flash-fiction, essays, or short stories) to be included in an annual Journey to Publication™ Anthology. And for the Advanced program, Overseers will choose one enthusiast’s novella for publication. All are published free of charge by JLB Creatives Publishing. (All manuscripts go through final approval by JLB Creatives Publishing to make sure they meet all JLBCP manuscript guidelines.)

To find out more about Journey to Publication™ and what this program can offer your school, homeschool group, business, community group, library, or yourself, visit the website: JourneytoPublication.com The curriculum is available in both Novice and Advanced packages. 28 Months of Heaven and Hell, one man's tribute to his brother's gift of service.

28 Months of Heaven and Hell is a historical fiction novel set in WWII pacific campaign. What sets this book apart from others about the era is the story behind it.

"I'll tell you someday..." Those were the words spoken from a Navy shipman to his younger brother after returning home from 28 months of war. That day finally came just a little over a year ago. Carl Young began to write his younger brother daily emails about his adventures aboard the DE-416 USS Melvin R.Nawman.

Carl's younger brother began to put this treasured diary together and write a fictionalized version that will make you cheer, laugh, cry, and maybe even grip your chair anxiously. Through the eyes of these two young men, you will relive their lives during the war. What it was like to enlist and leave behind a sweetheart and family for the young seaman. To live through a typhoon, enemy attacks, and shore leave shenanigans. What it was like to be the kid left behind during one of the most iconic wars in history. A family holding on to hope that it will end soon and their son and brother will be home again.
