WEDNESDAY FEATURE "Spark Your Creativity"

#Sunset #Sunsets #Water
This week's photo takes us to Weirsdale, Florida
Janet has titled this photo, "Fire on Water"

Happy Creating!

On Wednesdays we're posting a photo taken by our CEO, author Janet Beasley to help inspire authors, painters, musicians, and other awesome artists. We've titled the new feature, "Spark Your Creativity." How did we come up with this? Read on...

When Janet isn't hard at work in the literary world, you'll find her and her husband kayaking the crystal clear, spring fed rivers of Florida. Janet's second passion next to writing is photographing nature as they glide through the serene settings these rivers have to offer. She and her husband also enjoy traveling the US, so you'll also be seeing some of Janet's
photos taken from hikes and journeys she and her husband have done nationwide. She has used her photos time and again for her own inspiration when it comes to many of her stories, and decided she would like to share the same inspiration with the literary and arts world.

And not to worry if you're not inspired this week, come back each Wednesday to catch a glimpse of what could "spark" your next amazing piece of work. And if you don't want to wait until next Wednesday, we'd like to invite you to visit our JLB Creatives Photo Gallery on Flickr where the photos are always free to download and use as book covers, business cards, wallpaper, etc. All we ask is that you give credit where credit is due - perhaps by something as simple as adding a credit link to the JLB Creatives/Janet Beasley Flickr site in your book or on your presentation.

We hope you enjoy our new Wednesday feature, "Spark Your Creativity." And we want to let you know, if a photo inspires you to write a story that you would like to have considered for publication by JLB Creatives Publishing, be sure to visit our website at http://www.JLBCreatives.com where you'll find our company's history, be introduced to the publishing team, discover our Submission Guidelines, and may submit your work for consideration.

Books are life long gifts

Books are more than just a great gift, they can be something treasured for a lifetime. A speical book given with a special inscription can be found on the reciever's bookshelf many years later. A book can express romance sometimes better than flowers, a book of poetry or a love story to make your sweet's heart pitter pater. Nor will a book wilt a in a few days. That book will be cherished and reread for decades possibly.
Children will often save favorite books and stories from their childhood to pass on to their own children.

Some of the most famous bookshelves have treasures that have been gifted and inscribed by a loved one or dear friend. Giving a book is a great way to share some of your own interests with those you love as well.

Still looking for that special book to wrap and place under the tree? Then visit JLBCreatives.com and browse through our authors pages to find the perfect gift. Our books are available through most retailers online and in bookstores. If a title isn't on the shelf just ask for it at the counter and your local shop can order it.

Happy Book Shopping :)

Cover Reveal: Lill and Mewe book 3 Mission to Zanda

JLB Craetives Publishing is proud to announce book three in the Lill and Mewe series coming soon!

About Lill and Mewe: Mission to Zanda
Book three of the Lill and Mewe series

Children of all ages will enjoy the sci-fi adventure Lill and Mewe: Mission to Zanda.

The Martians have officially entered into their age of space exploration. MARSA and the MMSC have formulated a plan for space travel well beyond the Milky Way Galaxy. After testing a theory using a probe, they realized they have to first travel backwards to find a specific wormhole. This would prove to be the shortcut to bridge part of the 2.5 million light years to reach planet Zanda in the Andromeda Galaxy. But where in the galaxy did they find this ‘super’ wormhole? What big surprise does MARSA have for the mission crew?

Lill and Mewe trek to Turtle Run Creek to see the rare turtle hatchlings that happen every 40 years. It appears the turtles communicate with each other very well. Like any little community, the turtles each have their own task to perform. When Mewe gets too close to some young turtles she is smacked and hissed at by a turtle that protects them. Mewe hissed back but understood they protect their young turtles at all costs. Do the turtles have any enemies? Is it possible for turtles and cats to become friends?

Merak stays behind on this mission, but manages to create his own imaginary creatures at the Amusphere. During one of his holographic battles with otherworldly aliens, the program malfunctions and he is left to fend for himself. What happens?

The MMSC mission crew set off on their mission to Zanda. It is the first time the Martians are invited to join the United Alliance of Planets conference on that faraway planet. This takes place when the five blue moons align. It takes almost two weeks to reach their destination. Danger lurks along the way. Who or what do they encounter? What is a Pree? Is there trouble brewing in the universe?

Find out the answers to these questions and learn how Earth is connected to all of this when you arrive on planet Zanda.

Author Jane E Lane
Jean grew up in the once active steel town of Youngstown, Ohio. Since then, she has moved to the Orlando, Florida area and considers this her home. Shortly afterwards, she met and later married her husband Ken; now they have a home just northwest of Orlando.

She studied Journalism at Writers Institute and Finance at Penn State. Most of her life included working in Accounting and Purchasing. Although she liked working with numbers, she knew she had an aptitude for writing at an early age. Jean had poems published in Seacoast Life Magazine, Wide Open Magazine, and was a poetic contributor to The Copy Desk Flash, a school newspaper. Later she signed a contract with Creative Directions as a free-lance writer of verse for greeting cards.

It was her love of science and science fiction that prompted her to write her first children’s novel, “Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars”, the first of her series. Her inspiration came with the birth of her niece Lily and shortly afterwards a nephew, Andrew. As with all children, she wanted them to enjoy reading…and there’s nothing like a good adventure.

Leftovers

At JLBCP we all remember the good ol' days of
helping grandma in the kitchen as she prepared
a feast that was always fit for a king
on Thanksgiving Day.

Photo courtesy of Janet Beasley - copyright
After Thanksgiving celebration here in America, there are always tons of leftovers. We feast on turkey dishes for a week after (at least)! Here's some great leftover ideas you can do with your leftover feast.

  • Chop leftover turkey and use in soups and stews.
  • How about turkey enchiladas? Chop it up and add some of your favorite Mexican seasonings.
  • Turkey sandwiches can become humdrum...so why not add some avocado slices, sprouts, and/or olives to mix it up.
  • Sweet potatoes? Mash 'em up and make a casserole...don't forget the yummy little marshmallows.
  • Sliced turkey? Make some quick turkey roll-ups. Spread with cream cheese, add a dash of garlic pepper, and green onion. Roll 'em up and enjoy!
  • Freeze turkey in individual serving sizes to use in future recipes
  • Combine your left over turkey and mashed potatoes to make a base for a turkey casserole.
  • Grab a bag of dry Fettuccine Alfredo to whip up, and add your left over turkey, some peas, and onions to make a warm, hearty meal
  • Save your leftover cranberry sauce and use it on pancakes or waffles
  • Use that leftover dressing to make a tasty filling in baked acorn-squash cups
  • Leftover muffins can easily be cut in half and grilled in butter for a breakfast twist
  • Too much pudding leftover? Divide into single serving cups, cover, and refrigerate for a great after-school snack.
From all of us at JLB Creatives Publishing, here's wishing you and yours a super weekend!

Our CEO Dog's Favorite Recipe

Happy Thanksgiving week to all of our US fans, friends, and followers! Here's one last recipe for the Thanksgiving season from our CEO, author Janet Beasley - this time she's bringing you something
special to fix for Fido! All natural gourmet dog treats made with no added salt, sugar, artificial colorings, artificial flavorings, or preservatives.

I LOVE these treats when my mommy
bakes me some. I like to get my crunch on
with the crispy ones!
PUMPKIN DIVINE DOGGIE DELIGHTS

In mixing bowl A whisk together:
2 c Pillsbury® whole wheat flour
1 c Pillsbury® unbleached flour
1 c cornmeal
1 c wheat germ
1 c dry milk
1 T cinnamon

In mixing bowl B whisk together:
1 egg
¼ c dry yeast
½ c Crisco® canola oil
1¾ c warm water
¼ c all natural canned pumpkin
1 T honey

Preheat oven to 400º F.

1.      Put bowl A on electric mixer and gradually add liquid mix from bowl B and mix well. Gradually add additional ¾ to 1½ c unbleached flour to form a stiff dough (the dough will pull off the sides of the bowl, leaving the sides clean, when it reaches the correct texture. Dough will be thick and heavy).
2.      Allow dough to rise for 10-15 minutes.
3.      Roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut with 1-inch shape cutter of your choice (circle, star, bone, square, etc). Place on un-greased cookie sheet.
4.      Bake for 8-10 minutes (oven temperatures/times may vary).
5.      Remove pan from oven. CAUTION—PAN WILL BE HOT! Place pan on cooling rack.

For crispy treats:  Allow baked treats to remain on a cooling rack in the open air for several days. Once all moisture is gone, store them in an airtight container.

For freezer treats:  Allow the treats to cool, then put cool soft treats in a plastic bag and store in the freezer. Optional:  They can be warmed in the microwave to return back to a soft texture if your pet does does not care for the cool hard chew.

Maycly The Trilogy, Book Two: The Battle of Trust and Treachery.

Have you been to Maycly yet? Take the enchanted fantastic adventure with the Hidden Earth Series. Maycly the Trilogy: Book One: Two Altered Worlds was recently released for readers of YA fantasy. Now you can own Book Two: The Battle of Trust and Treachery!

About the Hidden Earth Series, Volume One, MAYCLY The Trilogy, Book Two: The Battle of Trust and Treachery
Book Two picks back up on Maycly where you were left off in Book One, still in the past. Charleo is Iona returns to the story near the end of Book Two. You will certainly want to journey on to MAYCLY The Trilogy, Book Three: The Queen to see how this fantastical story comes together.
summoned for the task of a lifetime by the Grand Wizard, SUL. He is not certain he is up to the challenge, but he honors SUL, nonetheless. Requested not to tell his family where he is going, he leaves his wife and boys in secret. Charleo and his two chukkon companions enter another land on Maycly, a land most do not know exists. Here is where the warrior training begins. You will become attached to the characters like never before and experience their love and heartaches as the epic battle unfolds. And not to worry, as time catches up,

The Battle of Trust and Treachery gets Five Stars from Reader's Favorite!
Hidden Earth Series Volume 1 Maycly the Trilogy - Part 2 ~ The Battle of Trust and Treachery, by Janet Beasley, takes off from where the first part ends. The reader is again taken on an adventure trip where the characters go through heartaches, fantasy, whimsy, and everything that appeals to the reader.

I found the second part equally compelling as the first part. The author's imagination is still on a high in this part. There are many amazing creatures, use of elaborate language, and some nice illustrations which leave an impression about the characters in the story. The plot and the story are as good as the first part of the story.

All the creatures in the book are also very whimsical. Both the parts of the story will make a good movie too. What I like about this kind of adventure and fantasy fiction is that it gives room for the reader to think without any barriers. The epic battle is fought in a new way in this story.

Hidden Earth Series Volume 1 Maycly the Trilogy - Part 2 ~ The Battle of Trust and Treachery also speaks about the author's expertise. She is able to write a story with an adventure plot in three parts and still manages to leave the reader asking for more. The book caters to readers of all age groups because it encourages you to dream and let your imagination run wild.

JLB Creatives Publishing's Media Director's Favorite Recipe...

Today we are happy to bring you our Media Director's favorite recipe. To find out more about JLBCP's Chief Designer visit Elise VanCise on the JLB Creatives Publishing website.

Sweet Potato Croquettes from Elise:

Our Turkey Day table was never complete without these little guys. They’re simple and fun even for the kids to join in the kitchen. I can remember making these with my mom for many holiday occasions and church dinners since I was a kid. There are a lot of memories attached to this recipe that has become a staple for our holiday table. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

Sweet Potato Croquettes are quick and easy to whip up. Toss these ingredients into your shopping cart:

1 box corn flakes cereal
1 40 oz can yams or same amount in fresh boiled sweet potatoes
1 bag mini marshmallows
Cinnamon or Allspice

When you get home preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Next you can get rid of all your holiday stress by crushing the corn flakes, don’t make them too fine though you want some nice bits.

Now put the yams in a bowl mash and mix with cinnamon or allspice to taste. Once thoroughly mixed roll yams into ping pong or golf ball size balls with a marshmallow or two in the center.

Next just roll the yam balls in the crushed corn flakes until coated and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Once all rolled pop your croquettes into the oven for 10-15 minutes or until done.

Serving size 2 croquettes, though we usually go for 3 or 4. Hey, it’s Thanksgiving after all! :o)

Happy Thanksgiving and don’t forget to check out the great books at JLB Creatives Publishing!

Cover Reveal! Planet Water: Draugar of the Abyss

JLB Creatives Publishing is proud to reveal the cover for the next adventure in the Hidden Earth Series, Planet Water: Draugar of the Abyss by author Janet Beasley. Coming in early 2015!

About Planet Water: Draugar of the Abyss
In Volume three of the Hidden Earth Series Arrowanna is summoned by SUL on her 16th birthday to become The Carrier of Planet Water’s element. She boards an enchanted tall ship and her journey begins. The quest takes her above and beneath the waves, sails her to places such as the Island of Opposites, lands her in the midst of an underwater battle, and even leads her into the icy caves of the abyss.
