Hello fans of the literary world! Welcome to the JLB Creatives Publishing blog. Today we've got something special for aspiring authors seeking a publisher.
Let's face it, readers need authors, and authors need readers. It's one of the best combinations on the planet! Fact: readers want to read sweet, professional works, and serious authors don't want to put out sour, unprofessional material. That's where having a publisher comes in.
We wanted to let worthy authors out there know that submissions are now open through October 31, 2015 for consideration of specific genres. We continually accept submissions, however at this time manuscripts falling under the specified following genres will have top priority for consideration of publication.
Historical Fiction (era, event, or person)
American Westerns (cowboys, railroad, pioneers)
Clean Romance (fantasy, teen, paranormal)
Mystery (Steampunk, crime, drama, thriller.)
Science Fiction (aliens, outer space, other world)
It takes hard work, passion, and severe dedication to the craft of writing to be accepted by a true publisher. JLB Creatives Publishing makes certain the stories they select for publication will present readers with quality stories that are professionally edited (in-house) and will also have book covers and interiors that have been designed professionally (in-house), both performed while working one-on-one with each author. These are only two of the main features in which JLB Creatives Publishing takes pride. Our one-on-one customer service/communication throughout the entire publication process (before, during, and after) with our team of industry professionals, and the fact that we promote our selected authors on our main social media outlets set us apart. If selected for publication you will have both an eBook and a print book (in most cases), and both will be made available globally.
You'll find we are a true, credible publisher who sincerely cares about the authors we select for publication.
If you have a completed manuscript we invite you to visit our website at www.JLBCreatives.com and take a look at our Submission Guidelines page first. If after reading our guidelines you feel that you and your story are a good fit for our publishing company, move on over to the Submission Form page and follow the instructions.
This week I'm challenging you with a photo prompt. Write a flash fiction of 500 words or more inspired by the photo below. Where does this road lead to? What's waiting at the end or inside the fog at the edges? Is it a dangerous journey or are your travelers safe as long as they stay on the yellow brick road?
Be sure to post a link to your story in the comments below or the comments section on the blog link on our Facebook page JLB Creatives Publishing.

The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen written by author Amy I. Long is being released to readers and bookstores today from JLB Creatives Publishing. In 2013 The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen won the National Indie Excellence Award.
Amy was inspired by history to create this fantasy/romance. Boadicea (Boudica or Boudicca) was a queen of a Celtic tribe. She led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. "I especially like strong, outspoken women of earlier days but little known in modern times. Perhaps that is what sparked my enthusiasm to write about my own queen.”
Now The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen is ready for global release to entice and thrill readers.
About The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen
Voda of Monarch never once believed she would end up as a queen. Now she must choose a husband, but she cannot because her heart belongs to Keldrick, the king of the faraway land, Ameri. A marriage between these two would be unsuitable, almost impossible.
Voda is thrown into a dangerous situation and is rescued by her heart’s desire. But their forbidden passion for each other must be denied. Keldrick promises only one night of passion, then he separates himself from temptation. Voda, being a warrior, faces many battles that only bring her closer to her beloved Keldrick.
How dangerous could a marriage between these two desperate souls be? The two struggle through cruelties and war only to discover that, in the end, love conquers all in this untold legend.
Five Star Reviews for The Untold Legend: The Warrior Queen
“I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a powerful woman who can lead an army to conquest, but also has a heart for a bit of romance on the side. It's a good read.”
“I enjoyed this romance novel with its descriptive scenes woven with history. The lead character is a strong, outspoken female who lives up to the position she is thrown into. This is a very promising start for this first time published author and I look forward to reading her future endeavors.”

Readers Favorite reviews has given 28 Months of Heaven and Hell a WWII historical fiction novel by JD Karns a stellar 5-star review!
Reviewed by Janelle Fila for Readers' Favorite I love historical novels. Anything with history makes a story that much more real. I feel like it could actually have happened, even though the story is fiction, because it is set in an era or around an event that did happen. That is exactly how 28 Months of Heaven and Hell by J.D. Karns feels. Based on journal entries from a World War II naval man, this book is steeped in so much history it feels real. I loved reading the letters that "Chester" sent his family back home and watching the emotions of his family members as they read his letters: dad and his two brothers proud, mom also proud but nervous, praying for his safe return. Knowing those letters were based on real letters sent home from a man who enlisted to serve and protect our country in our time of need makes the story that much more special. I love World War II stories as well, so this book is just the perfect combination for me. The reader experiences everything from the great typhoon of 1944 to Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and from the atom bomb to the signing of the treaty that ended the Second World War. I think it is so educational and I love stories that really bring history to life because it can teach people so much. And I love how the story stays with the family and we only glimpse the war through the letters. I wasn't expecting that, so it was a really refreshing twist that kept the story interesting.
About 28 Months of Heaven and Hell
J.D. Karns' historical novel is based on the actual journal kept by Carl Lee Young while he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the escort vessel DE-416 USS Melvin R. Nawman. Karns has brilliantly woven Carl's journal entries together with fiction to create an entertaining, breathtaking, and highly factual account of the war from a sailor's point of view. Experience everything from the great typhoon of 1944 to
Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and from the atom bomb to the signing of the treaty that ended the Second World War.
It is an emotional roller coaster ride between the onboard action and the family back home. The realism of
not only the war but also the era has been captured with expertise.
In real life Carl's younger brother, Charles, longed to hear his big brother's WWII story. When Carl returned from the war he promised his little brother that someday he would tell him all about it. That day came recently when Charles began receiving journal entries from Carl via emails, totaling 168.
Both Carl and Charles are excited to have their story turned into a historic novel. Both brothers are still living; they share the dream of holding a published copy of Carl's story in their hands before being called to Heaven. Carl resides in Arizona, and Charles resides in Florida. Both are still happily married and, through emails and phone calls, enjoy keeping each other informed of their day-to-day lives.

Readers' Favorite reviews awarded Hidden Earth Series Volume 2, Planet Land The Adventures of Cub and Nash 5 stars. Read the review below and join us in celebrating!
A fantasy adventure with a Western twist, when I saw the premise of Planet Land: The Adventures of Cub and Nash, I just knew I had to read this book. In this, the second volume in the Hidden Earth Series by author Janet Beasley, we find ourselves following our heroes, the titular Cub and Nash, as they navigate a world in the Wild, Wild West, but not quite the same as we're used to. The real adventure begins when a large hole appears in the dirt wall of the room that a group of friends are hiding out in to avoid being kissed by a girl at the Copper Junction Function, revealing a secret land that's been long forgotten, and Cub and Nash go through it!
This was a delightful book for the young adult reader. Mixing the realms of fantasy and Western is no easy feat, and I have to give mad props to author Janet Beasley for being able to do this so effectively. She is also skilled at developing fun characters that are completely relatable in Cub and Nash, and her world creating skills, especially for a young adult novel, are second to none. I thoroughly enjoyed Planet Land: The Adventures of Cub and Nash, and recommend this book to any reader, young adult or not, who would enjoy a fun, faced-paced and adventurous read that creatively combines Western and fantasy successfully. I certainly hope that author Janet Beasley is working on the next installment of this series, because this book was simply great!

This week we're going to have a fun challenge and maybe find a few things we forgot we owned! It's time for a Junk Drawer Challenge! Every house or office has at least one. It might be a box, closet or other container instead of a drawer, but I can say for certain we all have a junk catcher somewhere. :)
For this challenge, you are going to go to that drawer full of inspiration and open it up. Don't take time to study the contents. Don't even look in the drawer if you're sure there's nothing dangerous to your fingers inside. You have five seconds to pick up three objects from different locations in the drawer. Yup, only five seconds. That keeps you from taking too much time or thinking about what you're picking up. You want your story inspirations to be purely random objects. Go on and grab your treasures I'll be waiting right here.
*Whistles and waits while you pick out your junk... er treasures.* Oh good you're back! Now let's sit down at the computer or with a notebook and examine your finds. Look at each object and think about what a character would do with it or use it for. Don't linger too long here just take five minutes or so to let your muse wonder on this.
Once the time is up open up a shiny new page and start writing using each of the objects in your story. You can use any genre or wordcount for this one. Most important have fun with it! Okay get writing I'm going to go raid my junk drawer for inspiration!
Every Wednesday we offer you a special photo taken by our CEO Janet Beasley to help spark your creativity. Whether you're an author, a painter, a musician, or clay sculpture artist we think you'll find her photos very inspiring!

The author has some big ideas and writes for her target audience. The secrets of Mars are revealed with a civilization hidden beneath the surface of the red planet. The focus of the story is on Lill, her younger brother and their insatiable curiosity. The story ends piquing my curiosity and leaves me ready for the sequel. About the author Jean E. Lane Jean E.Lane grew up in the once active steel town of Youngstown, Ohio. Since then, she has moved to the
Orlando, Florida area and considers this her home. Shortly afterward, she met and later married her husband Ken; now they have a home just northwest of Orlando. She studied Journalism at Writers Institute and Finance at Penn State. Most of her life included working in Accounting and Purchasing. Although she liked working with numbers, she knew she had an aptitude for writing at an early age. Jean had poems published in Seacoast Life Magazine, Wide Open Magazine, and was a poetic contributor to The Copy Desk Flash, a school newspaper. Later she signed a contract with Creative Directions as a free-lance writer of verse for greeting cards.
It was her love of science and science fiction that prompted her to write her first children’s novel, “Lill and Mewe and the Secrets of Mars”, the first of her series. Her inspiration came with the birth of her niece Lily and shortly afterward a nephew, Andrew. As with all children, she wanted them to enjoy reading…and there’s nothing like a good adventure.
